Hi all,

I'm so excited we're having another transmog contest! Here are our rules, for those who haven't participated before:

Transmog Contest Rules:

1. One character per person may enter the contest. This character must be in the guild.

- This is to provide a fair chance to each person entering and not provide an unfair advantage to individuals with many alts.

2. Character must be wearing the armor type appropriate for their class. (ex: plate on your Death Knight, mail on your hunter, etc).

- This is to ensure that classes who can wear all armor types do not have an unfair advantage over players who are more restricted as to what they can equip.

3. Your outfit must include all basic armor pieces:

a. Helm (optional - can be hidden)

b. Shoulders

c. Chest

d. Cloak (optional - can be hidden)

e. Gloves

f. Belt

g. Bracers (optional if not visible – will not, for example, be visible with certain styles of gloves)

h. Legs (optional if not visible – will not, for example, be visible if wearing a robe)

i. Boots (optional if not visible – will not, for example, be visible for a troll wearing a kilt or robe)

j. Weapons – either 2h, two 1h, or a 1h and an off-hand

- Helms and cloaks are optional. The reason for this decision is that most cloaks literally cover the entire back half of the character’s outfit. Also, some players prefer to see their character’s face and hair. Blizzard provides us with the option to not show cloaks and helms, so this contest will too. Players who wish to transmog a cloak and/or helm are encouraged to do so. If you’d like to choose to hide your cloak and/or helm, go for it! The choice is up to you!

- Shirts and/or tabards may be worn but are not required.

4. Armor should be “worn for a purpose”, but not every single piece has to be transmogged. For example, if you love the way that your current gloves go with your transmog outfit, leave them as is! Know that the more items that you transmog, though, the more creative your outfit will be.

5. Points will be awarded to players for originality/creativity, effort, and the cohesion of the overall look. Wearing all tier armor doesn’t necessarily indicate that thought was put into the transmog. Yes, tier armor looks polished, put-together, and matches (and in most cases, takes a lot of time and effort to collect!) – but the creativity points for tier armor go to Blizzard. J Think outside the box!

Q: I want to participate as a transmog contestant. Where do I sign up?

A: There is a guild event on the guild calendar – sign up to the event and you are entered into the contest!

Q: I want to participate as a judge. Where do I sign up?

A: If you’re interested in judging, please send Tikaiya a tell in game, or send me a note via in-game mail.

Q: Will the rarity of transmogged items be taken into consideration? Will additional points be awarded for rarity?

A: Nope! The rarity of an item isn’t very helpful if it doesn’t enhance the look of your transmog.

Q: I see that one of the judging criteria is “effort” – what does that mean?

A: We are using the word “effort” to describe the lengths the player went to in order to obtain items used in the transmog. For example, did the player quest for a while in Eastern Plaguelands and put on the matching outfit that the game awards for those quests? This would probably indicate less effort put into the transmog than someone who adventured all over the world in order to collect his or her transmog pieces.

Q: I thought the point of this was just to make a creative outfit! Why are there rules?

A: The judges’ idea of what constitutes a transmog may be different from the participants’ ideas. We created rules so that we are all on the same page!

Q: Will there be transmog “categories”, such as Super Hero, Sexy, Humorous, etc?

A: Not this time.

Q: How will the amazing cash and prizes be divided up between the winners?

A: Like this!

First place: 5,000 gold

Second place: 3,000 gold

Third place: 2,000 gold

Fourth place: 1,000 gold

Fifth place: 500 gold

Q: Are mounts, pets, battle pets and other “props” allowed in the contest, if it enhances the look of my transmog?

A: Yes! Props that cannot be transmogged but are worn in clothing slots, however, are not allowed. For example, no sunglasses or Vile Mask of the Fumigator may be worn in the helm slot, no Egg Baskets can be held in the player’s off-hand slot.

Q: I have further questions, comments, or concerns. How can I communicate them to the appropriate parties?

A: Please send a tell to Tikaiya in game. I may be on one of my long list of alts, so just ask in guild chat if I’m on and I will respond if I am!

Kia - Wow! I love your point about Blizzard bringing forward a stage for these prejudices and hatreds to play out that is unconnected to any of the politics of Warcraft as we're used to it. I am still amused by Dustin's description along the lines of, "Hey you guys! We just randomly discovered this magical gigantic island that we somehow never managed to notice before!", but you make some great points. It's neat to hear the perspective of someone who is really enjoying the lore of this expansion.

I wanted to make another plug for Raynathia's MSV runs. Rayna, our fearless raid leader, coordinates weekly MSV runs on Saturdays and Sundays. His raid team recently progressed to 4/6 bosses, at which point we had to stop due to lack of attendance on Sunday evening.

Ok, a site for the transmog contest has been selected! We will be meeting in the Northern Barrens along the river. Coordinates are 70, 14 for people with coordinates.

If you don't have coords, it's still easy to find! Exit Orgrimmar via the south gate. Head west until you cross the river into Northern Barrens. We will meet right there on the shoreline.

It's been five long years since I was born. I was born to fighting. I was born with a large cat laying across my chest, and a bow at my feet. I was born blinking tears of blood from my vision, my head opened wide. I born in a field of flames. I was born to blood.

I hear tails of what came before the day I was born. I do not know myself. I awoke on a battle field fighting all around me, flames licking at my heels. My people fighting the Scourge. I didn't know at the time they were my people, I was confused. Though when the Scourge minions rushed me, I took the bow in my hands and like second nature I landed my fair share of killing blows. The cat rushing to aid me in our survival.

Those of us that survived regrouped. Some knew me but not well. It was implied I held some rank before the day of my birth. I find beast are drawn to me, like the cat. He was there the day of my birth, he is my brother.

I joined with the others for their last stand. I fared well and gained respect. They called me Deadly. The name stuck, it fits.

I find I like respect. I was strong then, and even stronger now. I also learned that I crave to be strong. I have picked my rivals they are strong, I will be stronger.

I have a few trades I have learned, and being strong helps me gain items to trade when I go to towns. I find I have a bit of humor, I do it for the attention. Though being a babe of blood I find though amusing to others, it's hard to amuse myself.

In the last five years I have wondered the land. The wind calls to me and I follow it. The rest of my people have spread out. I see them in towns or cities. I avoid going to what would be called my home city, the wilds are my home. Maybe I wonder the land in search of my past, maybe for my future.
